Please email hello@craftymonkies.com if you would like to Pay in 3 x instalments of £33 ($42)
We're really excited to be hosting this four-part Quilt Block of the Month series of workshops with top US-based longarm quilter, Charisma Horton! The 4 x three-hour classes are spread out between April-October 2022 (homework between classes will be required!) and you will focus on 3 x quilt blocks during EACH workshop (12 blocks in all!), the aim being to create a whole quilt by the time you complete the course. If you missed our first class in April, it doesn't matter, once you have booked your £100 ticket each class you will be sent the recording from the first live class so you can catch up, and each future class is recorded, so if you cant attend live you will automatically be sent the recording a few days after each live class, so you won't ever miss a thing!
The one-off price of £100.00 represents fantastic value for money for this four-part series (12 hours in total) as our regular individual workshop price is normally £30.00! - AND you get the $35 pattern included within your £100.00 fee too! Here's Charisma to tell you more:-

Introduction by Charisma:-
Hi, I'm Charisma Horton and I'm absolutely delighted to have been asked to join the CraftyMonkies talent pool of craft experts/tutors! I have been a professional longarm quilter for 12 years now, having first taken the leap into pattern design in December 2018. Since then I have been picked up in almost a hundred crafting/quilting publications, I have published no fewer than 300 of my own designs and I'm a regular contributor to major fabric companies! I created this Quilt Block of the Month, called Possibilities, so I could share my love of using traditional blocks in a different way, using new designs and lots of colour. This is a 96" x 96" (inch) quilt with a variety of blocks and fabrics and I'm absolutely convinced you're going to have so much fun making it with me - I look forward to welcoming you along 'in-class' with Rachel and myself: see you for the first date on 22nd April 2022!...

What you will learn in this Online Interactive Workshop:-
During this Block of the Month (BOM) Series you will be with Charisma for 4 x three-hour sessions and you will learn 3 x blocks in each of the four sessions! There is a variety of techniques in this quilt from regular patchwork, templates and Paper Piecing (or Foundation Paper Piecing: FPP). Charisma will also share her different quilting designs if that is of interest to any of you!

Skill level for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
Charisma tells us that the skill level for the Possibilities series of workshops is Advanced Beginner. Please don't be daunted as Charisma will be there to walk you through each block and you will have plenty of time to master the technique. But - a little word of warning here! - you will have homework to do between each session of this series - after all, you can't make a stunning quilt in just 12 hours of class time and we're great believers in " you only get out what you put in"!...

Material requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
You will need your basic sewing supplies, your pattern (created by Charisma and included when you book & pay to attend this series of workshops) and your fabric.
Fabric requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
All of the fabric requirements are listed on the pattern that you will get following your registration. There is also a colour key included in the pattern. Feel free to change any colours, use prints, scraps, etc. The idea here is to really make this your own quilt project! Charisma used solids for her prototype and she can make kits available for purchase in her online shop. Please note that US shipping rates will apply.

BLACK
Sewing & Quilting:
Traditional Curved Piecing
& Stripes!

Online Interactive Workshop
Traditional Curved Piecing & Stripes!
We're absolutely delighted to welcome another NEW guest tutor under the CraftyMonkies creative umbrella: the wonderful & hugely talented Heather Black is joining us to teach her fabulous Traditional Curved Piecing & Stripes class - and we can't wait! Here's Heather to tell you all about it!...

Introduction by Heather:-
A little bit about myself, I'm a single (widowed) mother of a beautiful little girl and sneak quilting in whenever possible. I've always been creative and I began seriously quilting in the summer of 2011 and finished my first quilt in November 2011. I loved it instantly. I worked through the piecing and sandwiching then began hand quilting. I had no idea that you could use a sewing machine to quilt so I hand quilted my first quilt, queen size. That was the last time I hand quilted an entire quilt! I now finish almost all my quilts on my longarm. I'm a designer but I'm not a traditional quilter. I love and respect the talent, time and creativity in traditional quilts but they would look really odd mixed into my home decor. I'm a modern to contemporary quilter and designer with a love for bold geometric designs which I hope you will enjoy making with me! "Lot No. 1" (the quilt I have chosen to work with you on) is the first in my Auction House Series of quilt designs.
It's hot off the press, so please come join me. I'm really looking forward to working with you!

What you will learn on this Online Interactive Workshop:-
What's really interesting is how Heather mixes the traditional with the contemporary, a totally new type of class for us and you get the best of both worlds! We're going to spend so much time taking a really deep dive into how to successfully piece curves and stripes. Most importantly how to mix those curves and stripes for an extra measure of depth and movement. You'll be amazed how the two can really complement each other, we'll talk about geometric shapes and why they work. The workshop will also cover how to make curve templates form easy to find materials (saving you a fortune in supplies in the future!) and how to experiment with mixing different size curves to make abnormal abstract shapes. My aim is to teach you things you things you may never have heard of before. There is always something new to learn!

Skill Level for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
This class is geared for an advanced Beginner/Intermediate quilter/sewer. What do I mean by that? Makers will need to have the basic knowledge of how to use a rotary cutter, sewing machine and sew a consistent 1/4'' seam, so not really that advanced after all!
Fabric requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
You can just use scrap fabrics and come and learn techniques, but if you want to make the quilt exactly as you see in the photograph these are the requirements:-
-
The pattern (included in the cost of your ticket, emailed to you a few days before class)
-
Off white: 3 yards
-
Black: 1 1/4 yards
-
Pink: 1 1/4 yards
-
Gold 5/8 Yard
-
Green (binding): 3/4 yard
-
Backing 4 yards
-
Batting - Twin size
Equipment requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
-
Sewing-Machine
-
Cutting-Mat
-
Fabric Scissors
-
Thread cutter
-
Any other tools you use for quilting..... and a big smile!
Pattern Information relevant to this Online Interactive Workshop:-
Heather's pattern (essential for this project) is included in your course fee and will be forwarded to you, shortly after you've signed up for the course!

Ingrid will be teaching you the principles of FPP which can be applied to any pattern.

Introduction by Ingrid:-
I'm really loving working with CraftyMonkies students! It's always such a relaxed small intimate atmosphere/group and a lot of fun! FPP can be tricky sometimes for people to understand but in my classes I love it when our students suddenly 'get it' and are able then to create these wonderful blocks in a fairly easy manner and very quickly. I'm also very excited to bring this brand-new pattern to CraftyMonkies, he was modelled on my friends' beautiful dog and I hope you like him! If you would prefer to make the Cat in class, that's fine, as long as you understand the principles in the first half an hour of the class you will then be able to work alongside the rest of the students and make the Cat!

What you will learn on this Online Interactive Workshop:-

Hi everyone! I can't wait to do another CraftyMonkies 'bagineer' class with you all in June 2022 and do keep an eye on the Monkies website and social media channels as we will be running an all-NEW class in October this year as well: exciting times! This Norfolk Pouch workshop is a 'Measure & Cut' pattern (my Norfolk Pouch pattern will be supplied via PDF to all those who book!) meaning there's no need for templates as the pattern works best when all the pieces are cut using a rotary cutter, self-healing cutting-mat and acrylic ruler. The world of bag-making really is so fulfilling & rewarding on so many levels and I can assure you that you will turn heads once people see you out & about with one of my/your/our creations! MILLS
Sewing & Mixed-Media:
Riot Of Colour!

Gary Mills
Saturday 02 July 2022
3.00pm - 6.00pm (BST)
Online Interactive Workshop
Riot Of Colour: Discover Mixed-Media Textiles!
We're delighted to be hosting this Riot Of Colour workshop with the wonderful, warm, engaging & hugely talented Gary Mills! This class will see participants engage in creating a wonderful artwork via a colourful painted background on ‘stitch and tear’; you will then cut-out further shapes in coloured ‘stitch and tear’ and, by using heat bonded collage, to appliqué stylized floral shapes on to this background. Once your shapes are bonded down you will work further into your Mixed Media textile with machine-stitch, using simple yet effective Free Motion Embroidery!...

Introduction by Gary:-
Have you always wanted to feel more confident in being creative, have you always wanted to be more artistic but never had the opportunity, or perhaps the 'know-how' as to how & where to get started? If you love flowers, bold bright colour, collaging, and using free motion embroidery to embellish your designs, this is the workshop for you, designed by me (Gary Mills), who can teach and develop creative ability in anyone!
This is yet another, exciting and engaging workshop which has been specifically designed to be accessed by everyone and all abilities; for all of you who would like to learn and have a go, and those who enjoy being creative but would like to become a little freer and more open to some new ideas. The workshop is based around creating a 2D constructed Mixed Media textile image of stylized florals in an array of bright bold colours. From imagery supplied, and easily accessible materials, you will be undertaking a series of processes to help you achieve a piece of Mixed Media artwork you will be proud of. The outcome would look great framed or even placed on greeting cards to send to friends who will be impressed with your creativity!

What you will learn on this Online Interactive Workshop:-
In this three-hour workshop you will cover creating a colourful painted background on ‘stitch and tear’ by adding a patch work of water-based colour with either acrylic paints, water colour paints, coloured inks or even food colourings will work. You will be cutting out further shapes in coloured ‘stitch and tear’, and by using heat bonded collage to applique stylized floral shapes on to this background. During the session Gary will discuss how you can use primary and secondary colours to complement each other, and how you can best use this knowledge to greatest effect when assembling your image. Once your shapes are bonded down you will then further work into your mixed media textile with machine stitch using simple yet effective free motion embroidery.
The outcome for this project is an 11” x 11” (inch) finished piece of artwork!

Skill Level for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
Gary has many years’ experience as a professional practitioner and teacher of art and textiles; his workshops are so enjoyable, fun, and very well organised with his clear and patient guidance. This workshop is suitable for all; if you are a beginner this is a great way to find your creative ability through learning process and skills which explore the rudiments of creative art and textile practices. For those with some confidence and experience you could add further diversify to approaches in your own artistic ability and imagination.

Piecing Stripes & Strips!
We're delighted to be hosting this Piecing Stripes & Strips workshop with the wonderfully engaging & hugely talented US-based quilter, Heather Black! This class will see participants embrace mixing & matching colours to create wonderful Pieced Stripes & Strips designs for such as quilts, cushions, etc...

Introduction by Heather:-
Piecing Stripes & Strips is the second in my Auction House Series of quilt designs. My Auction House Series is a collection of abstract quilt designs capturing the spirit of those found objects that you love to display in your home. Each of the quilts in the series will have a similar colour palette and will co-ordinate effortlessly with each other but are also attention grabbers in their own right. There’s no need to make all quilts in the series, you can complete the 3 quilt sets or pick and choose your favourite to make. In the first workshop I ran with CraftyMonkies we focused on sewing Traditional Curves. In this second workshop we’re going to focus on piecing stripes and strip sets, as well as, conquering some of your greatest colour fears!
This workshop will cover selecting a colour palette and how to tie even the busiest of colour schemes together as a cohesive presentation: I really hope you'll join me - we're going to have a lot of fun & I'm absolutely convinced you'll love everything that we cover!...

What you will learn on this Online Interactive Workshop:-
During the Piecing Stripes & Strips workshop you will go over ways to successfully piece stripes, strip sets and how to mix and match colours. The workshop will also cover how to cut fabric and sew strips for the straightest stripes possible. They’re will also be some tips for trouble-shooting wonky strips! The workshop will also go over the basics of colour theory, picking colour combinations and it will also encourage the attendees to 'trust their gut' when it comes to their own creative colour choices!

Additional Information relevant to this Online Interactive Workshop:-
Heather's Auction House Series is a set of quilts that are desinged to make an individual abstract statement and still all mix and match with the other quilts in the series. The Pieced Stripes & Strips (Lot No. 2) quilt creates order out of chaos with a mix of horizontal stripes, vertical stripes and even four patches. This workshop will explore how to use color, shape and layout to create a pleasing quilt design as well as a deep-dive into working with stripes and strip sets successfully.
In her own words, Heather is "super excited" to be partnering with CraftyMonkies for her second Auction House quilt release and to spend time exploring design and stripes with you!

Cathedral Windows Block!
The vivacious & hugely talented/versatile Sarah Payne joins us once again, this time running a class which is a repeat of her Cathedral Windows Block workshop (last aired in March 2021) - great for those of you new to CraftyMonkies or who might have missed out last time and a great opportunity for those who had a go last year to hone those quilt-block skills!...

Introduction by Sarah:-
This is a fun class, cutting up and re-using those old denim jeans to make a fabulous cushion with the Cathedral Windows design. So instead of throwing them out, grab a few pairs of jeans and get creating!

What you will learn on this Online Interactive Workshop:-
Sarah will show you how to make this stunning design using offcut of denim and make a cute custion. Don’t worry – you can use denim meterage if you don’t have any old jeans to chop!
You will learn this iconic pattern and how to adapt It in size to make anything you want – quilt, cushion, bag, pillow – the choice is yours. You can choose the size you want the blocks to to be and work with any sized squares you like. For this sample we will be making a 12 inch finished cushion cover. You will also receive a copy of the pattern after the class to refer to along with a guide to turn it into a cushion if that’s how you wish to display it.

This is a perfect class for beginners as well as more experienced quilters who just love this iconic design.
