Brush Lettering

With our CraftyMonkies Brush-Lettering & Mindfulness Course, not only will you be learning two wonderful new skills - the art of brush-lettering as well as mindfulness and how to practice it - you will also be investing in your future! There is huge potential for you to become a calmer, happier, more restful & focused version of yourself. The skills you learn with us can be used in your everyday life when you need to focus, calm down, arrest anxiety, take stock, sleep better, be positive, gain confidence, the list of potential benefits is endless!

What you will do is relax, have fun, meet likeminded souls, share your stories (if you want to) learn some incredibly valuable mindful techniques with our lovely coach Tony Burkinshaw (a registered practitioner with premises in London's Harley Street and, we believe, one of the best!) and practice those techniques through the medium of Brush Lettering, which will be taught by the editor of Simply Lettering magazine, the incredibly talented Lou Collins. It’s a really clever, well-planned course that we believe is totally unique and INVALUABLE!

Mindfulness is a big buzzword at the moment, but what does it actually mean? Can learning to be mindful really help you? The first thing to point out is if you come on a CraftyMonkies Brush-Lettering & Mindfulness Course, (two of the most perfect bedfellows, for which you need zero experience in both disciplines) you will not be asked to meditate, do the lotus position or waft yourself in incense!


All your tools and refreshments will be provided. All you need to do is make the decision to invest in yourself, come along with an open mind and a desire to learn something new: let us do the rest! We’ll listen to you and your own thoughts and challenges, work with you to find a solution, teach you some techniques, play with some beautiful brushes and colours and give you an experience you’ll remember for a lifetime. Lou Collins - Saturday 29th February 2020

Beginners Course on Brush-Lettering

Lou will be helping you to use Tony's mindful techniques as well as teaching you the beautiful art of brush lettering. You will learn how to use pressure to your advantage while lettering and how to apply heavy pressure on downstrokes, and light pressure on upstrokes, also the importance to try for a clean transition between two weights. You will see how to change the thickness of heavy downstrokes to completely change up the style of your lettering and perhaps some flourishing and shadowing. Sound complex? Don’t worry, you'll get the hang of it and be sweeping and gliding in no time!

Beginners Course on Mindfulness

By the end of the day you will understand what mindfulness is. Have at least 3 mindful techniques to take away and use for those stressful moments. Learn and practice them through the day. Know how to use Mindfulness Meditation (even for a few minutes in the car it can be done and provide huge mental wellbeing benefits) Be able to share your own experience and learn tailor made techniques to help YOU.
