We are so thrilled to welcome you here!

What you're about to discover is something rather special. Cas Holmes has spent a lifetime finding beauty and meaning in the everyday – and now she's here to help you do exactly the same! We are genuinely pinching ourselves that she said yes to hosting a year-long artistic exploration, designed to help you find your inner artist and drawing skills.

Ready to learn more? Let's dive in! In Cas's own words - here's what this year has in store for you...

'Have you ever looked at an everyday object and really SEEN it? That's exactly where we're going to start. Join me for a year-long exploratory drawing club built around the simple, the overlooked, and the wonderfully ordinary. Drawing on decades of my own practice, this is a course for anyone who wants to look at the world differently - and make something from what they find.
Together we'll ditch the fear of the blank sketchbook and discover that drawing isn't just the starting point of a project - it's the whole adventure. Through a mix of demonstrations, discussions and hands-on exercises, we'll explore line, tone, texture, colour, collage and mixed media, building towards your own individual creative voice.
We'll work with accessible, everyday materials. We'll experiment. We'll make marks that aren't "perfect" — and we'll love them anyway. Because this club is about developing a healthy, joyful relationship with the creative process, not just the finished result.
By the end of our year together, your sketchbook will be a living, breathing record of how you see the world — a reflection of your developing confidence and ideas as they inform the things you make in mixed media, collage and textiles. Let's explore the world together. It looks better when you really look at it."

"But I'm rubbish at drawing", you say!
Stop right there! If those thoughts just crossed your mind, then this is absolutely the place for you. Almost without exception, every single one of us has uttered those words. The truth? You're NOT rubbish! You're simply un-taught. And those are two very different things. There are no exams here. No judgement. No one looking over your shoulder. Just you, a pencil (and a few other items) and Cas, gently showing you that the only thing standing between you and your inner artist is belief, a little bit of technique and a whole lot of permission to play. You want to learn. You're here. That's all you need. Now go pick up that drawing device: let's go!

Here's how it works!
Each month you will receive a Zoom link on your Members page and you'll simply click that to join Cas and I along with our other intrepid explorers across the world! The Zooms are every month for twelve months, on the SECOND Wednesday of each month at 7.00pm (UK-based GMT or BST dependent on the season). Cas will guide you through a different aspect of drawing and creative exploration from observational drawing to colour, collage and mixed media; the course builds gently and progressively throughout the year. When you become a member you will be given a link to a Googledrive folder that will have the course detail across the next twelve months in depth, so you will know exactly where we are heading, but in essence the course is split into: drawing, collage and mixed media.

Materials and techniques covered
-
An introduction to drawing techniques which asks the question. Why draw? (line, tone and texture) as a foundation to the course. Seeing with new eyes.

What do students say about our other Clubs?
We have several clubs running now, and the reason we're able to offer so many is simple - our students try one and always come back for more! We organise everything so you're always in the know. You'll know when the Zooms are, you'll know what you need to do, and we actively encourage you to get involved in our Facebook group to post examples of your work, talk about the class/content, connect with your fellow creatives and really grow within yourself.
Our Clubs are very much part of the CraftyMonkies community, not just a series of lessons. We always aim to inspire you and bring the inner artist out in you. Yes, we teach you techniques - but this is really about developing you and your creative confidence.

Below you can watch a video about another Club we ran, A different theme and skillset, but the core principles of all our Clubs remain the same: LEARN, CONNECT, ENJOY, INSPIRE!
