We're really excited to be hosting this Stitches & Thread workshop with the wonderful & hugely talented Lucy Brennan! This Afternoon class will see participants explore sewing-machine stitches and expand their horizons using thread!
Introduction by Lucy:-
Explore sewing machine stitches and expand your options using thread! I will demonstrate how to achieve beautiful stitches with a variety of applications to use in your projects. I will show how to best set up your sewing machine for using different stitches, as well as types of thread and tips for preparing your fabric. Learn all about selecting needles, weights and varieties of thread for different uses. Make the most of your sewing machine by achieving an array of looks with thread and stitches on your sewing projects. Whether purely to decorate small makes or items of clothing or for applique stitching or quilting, this class will inspire you to use and enjoy your machine to the max!
What You Will Learn in this Online Interactive Workshop:-
- How to select the right needle for your project
- Using different types of threads in your machine
- Creating neat stitches using thicker threads
- Which decorative stitches work best and how to get neat stitches
- Clever tricks using decorative stitches
- How to use all those stitches you may have never tried!

Material requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
- Variety of sewing machine threads
- Fine bobbin thread, such as 50 weight or 60 weight thread in a neutral dark or light colour.
- Sewing machine needles in different sizes.
Please do not feel you have to buy anything new before the class, you can probably use what you already have and will get suggestions and recommendations during the class. Of course if there was a thread you wanted to try please do buy it beforehand. 28wt or 12wt thread will require a size 14 or 16 jeans or topstitch needle and metallic thread would require a size 12 metallic needle. Please ensure you purchase sewing machine thread on a plastic spool. Feel free to contact Lucy with any questions prior to class.
Fabric requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
Pieces of fabric for testing stitches
Optional: Fusible interfacing - a medium weight interfacing (H250 or similar) and a woven interfacing (such as SF101)
Equipment requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
Sewing machine and general sewing supplies

Tickets for this Online Interactive Workshop (via the Zoom platform) will be limited & allocated on a first-come/first-served basis! If applicable, any free pattern, or other information, relevant to this course will be forwarded to you after booking and approximately 5 days before the course date. The ticket price of £25.00 is based on ONE person attending this crafting class.
