After discovering Carolina Oneto’s stunning work online, Rachel reached out to see if she might consider teaching our wonderful CraftyMonkies community - and, luckily for us, Carolina said yes! Since then, a lovely twice-yearly collaboration has grown, delighting students again and again.

 

For her next class, Carolina asked if she could teach her incredibly popular Colourful Clamshell technique, and of course the answer was an enthusiastic yes. Because of the depth of knowledge and technical detail involved, this course is taught in TWO parts, with time in between for you to create your clamshells before we come back together to assemble the final pieces.​ At CraftyMonkies, our aim is always to inspire, and we truly believe this two-part course hits the mark. Welcome to Creative and Colourful Clamshells! These shapes look so effective when placed together. Whenever I show these pieces in a class, there are always lots of 'ooohs and ahhhs'! They look so appealing but also difficult to create.

 

Well, lovely students, it's time to unleash your creativity in our TWO-Part workshop focused on not only creating improv clamshell quilts, but piecing them together. Dive into the world of improv and curve piecing techniques, and learn how to employ color theory to craft quilts that exude depth and movement. Join us for a fun and insightful TWO-PART class that will empower you to design striking quilts using these innovative methods! Then listen as people express their 'oohs and aahhhs' at your finished quilts!

 

What You Will Learn in this Online Interactive Workshop:-

In Class 1 - Students will learn the following:-

• The art of creating improv clamshells, including techniques for blending colors and shapes to craft

  visually striking designs.

• How to master improv piecing and curve piecing techniques to bring depth and movement to their quilt

  designs.

• Principles of color theory and how to apply them to create quilts that show dimension.

• Students will then be asked to spend some time creating the clamshells ready for the next class!

In Class 2 - Students will learn the following:-

• Now we learn the skill of piecing together the clamshells in a structured sequence to achieve a cohesive and impactful

  overall composition.
