Online Interactive Workshop: Koi Carp Free-Motion Quilting (FMQ) Techniques!
We're really excited to be hosting this skills-based Koi Carp FMQ Techniques workshop with the wonderful & hugely talented Trudi Wood, a long-time companion of Improv-meister Nicholas Ball! This class will see participants learn finishing techniques to complement the Koi Carp Quilt Sewalong and associated CraftyMonkies workshops, delivered by Nicholas, during February & March 2022...
Introduction by Trudi:-
I'm thrilled to be back with a new CraftyMonkies class and I absolutely love a collaboration, especially when it is with my dear friend & long-time collaborator, Nicholas Ball, so quilting his latest Koi Carp Quilt sewalong was a delight. In this workshop we will look at the quilting of Nicholas' Koi Carp, the techniques and designs used in each area of the body. We will tackle some of the challenges you might run into and how to resolve them. Even if you have not finished your Koi Carp or didn’t take part in Nicholas' Koi Carp Quilt Sewalong on Instagram, have no doubt that these designs and techniques will help you in your ongoing Free-Motion Quilting journey - I really hope you'll be free to join me & the CraftyMonkies!...
What You Will Learn in this Online Interactive Workshop:-
Trudi will show you how to approach the quilting of your Koi Carp, to stabilise the piece and the quilting designs and how to execute them for the different areas of the body.
You will learn techniques and quilting designs;
- Stitching in the Ditch
- Matchstitck/Straight Line Quilting
- Echo Quilting
- McTavish Quilting
We will look at dealing with fullness, texture, density and scale, and how these affect the overall appearance of the quilting.
Skill Level for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
This is what Trudi would term a 'confident beginner' level class; you will have some Free-Motion Quilting experience and an understanding of how your machine works and would like to move beyond a stipple of loops. Trudi will guide you through the process to achieve each design element in a step by step process...
