Introduction by Joe:-

Hi, I'm Joe and delighted to be joining the CraftyMonkies talent pool! The way I create my own quilts is thinking of something I want to do, some technique or range of techniques, and then doing it to see what it looks like - that’s how I find out what it looks like! With this Get The Point project I wanted to find out what it would look like to make these long sharp points and see if I could make them come unzipped. The rest of the quilt uses various techniques to make a composition, but for today I want to focus on making the points only.

What you will learn on this Online Interactive Workshop:-

What you will learn is how to easily make these long sharp points freehand, with no pattern. Then I’ll give tips for stacking them up and putting them together, for going around a corner and for starting and stopping. Finally, I’ll talk about some of the ways you can add to the point section to make a complete composition. You should end up with a crib size quilt top ready to be quilted. The quilt shown is only one possibility for the class.

Material requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-​

There are no special requirements for preparation for the class!

Fabric requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-​

Fabric for this workshop can be solid or printed. All that is important is that you have two fabrics that contrast sharply to make the points, one bright and one dark.

• 1/2 yard Bright

• 1/2 yard Dark

• 3 or 4 fat quarters of other fabrics to use for background and alternate patterns to finish the quilt.

 

Equipment requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-

This class is designed for machine sewing. So you will need a sewing machine and all standard sewing equipment, needles, neutral coloured thread, scissors and etc:-       

• Sewing Machine

• Neutral Thread

• Rotary Cutter with a sharp Blade

• Cutting Mat

• Ruler - at least 18” in length

• Scissors

• Some type of Design Wall can be helpful but not necessary.
