In this super-quick, fun, 90-minute speed run, “Christmas in July” class, we will turn fabric strips, wadding and buttons into fun & funky Christmas decorations! Sew along with me, or watch live and make later.
We will use a simple Stitch & Flip quilting technique, then create little trees that can stand on their own by filling with stuffing. We can then decorate with buttons to give the appearance of a festive christmas tree. Perfect for your own homemade Christmas. The best bit is you probably already have everything you need to create this simple yet effective make in your crafting stash already!!!!

What You Will Learn in this Online Interactive Workshop:-
A simple Stitch and flip quilting technique
How to choose and arrange fabrics
How to create your own tree template
How to position your template on the quilted fabric
How use zig-zag stitch to attach “tinsel” trims
How to pivot while stitching
How to hand sew the bottom closed
What materials you can use as stuffing
How to add buttons as decorations if desired
Skill Level for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
Beginner.
You should be able to use a sewing machine. Sew a straight line, and be able to find and use zig-zag stitch on your machine.
Material requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
Strips of fabric, an assortment of shades in your chosen colour.
Green if you are being traditional.
Red and white would work well, think about what colour scheme would work best for you.
You will need in total, a fat quarter per tree.
Fabric requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
A mix of fabrics in the colour of your choice. Approximately one fat quarter total per tree. These can be craft/quilting cotton, repurposed fabrics from last year's Christmas outfits etc. cut into 20 strips approximately 2 ½ inches wide and 10 inches long. A festive jelly roll would be perfect.
Wadding, any quilters wadding 10x24” per tree.
1 metre of trim per tree. Thin ribbon, festive trim, bias binding, Ric rack, silk ribbon, etc. this will be the miniature tinsel for your tree.
Buttons, for the baubles. To coordinate with your colour choices. About 12 per tree, a mixture of sizes looks cute.
All purpose thread in a coordinating or contrasting colour for your fabric.
Wadding off-cuts, toy stuffing, clean odd socks or scrap fabric, for stuffing your trees.
1-2 sheets of A4 paper (to make your template)

Sewing Machine
Small Scissors or Thread Snips
Large Scissors
Rotary Cutter (optional)
Chalk Pencil, Felt Tip Pen (or similar) to draw around a template
Long Quilters Ruler (or similar)
Cutting Mat
Seam Roller (optional)
Needle and Thread for oversewing the bottom closed and sewing on buttons.
Small Bowl or Compass to draw a circle
