So, how does this creative journey work?
It's so easy! As soon as you press the 'Join Now' button, within minutes you will be able to sign into the 'Under The Sea' membership page (found under the Clubs heading on our main menu). Just use your email you just paid with and choose a password, on that members page you'll have the entire 12 months worth of videos listed, all in month-by-month order and in bite-size chapters to make it easy for you to dip into whenever you like! You can go at your own speed and go backwards and forwards as many times as you like.
Is there a pattern?
No. Our artists created the quilt as they went, inspiring you and teaching you along the way. What you do with those techniques and what you create is completely up to you, and that's the exciting part! Our members were so inspired and created all sorts of different pieces.
How long is the subscription?
It's 12 months from the date you purchase. At the end of the 12 months you will no longer have access to the Under The Sea members page. You can choose your date to start, if for example you want to purchase today, but start your membership in a couple of weeks (maybe you're going on holiday etc) that's fine. Your membership starts on the date you choose and 12 months from there.

How much does it cost?
The cost for this bumper content (hours and hours...and more hours of films!) is just £99.00 for the entire year! That works out at just £8.25 per month, incredible value for hours of carefully crafted, completely unique filmed content. In US Dollars this equates to approximately just $11.00 per month!
Can I join from anywhere in the world?
Yes! Just like any of the other content on our website, you can join from anywhere and pay in your own currency.

Do I have to watch at set times?
No! Unlike our LIVE Zoom classes where you have to turn up at a specific time, this is all recorded content, so you can watch whenever you want! There are NO Live Zoom classes as part of this content, just beautifully filmed and edited recorded content for you to watch when you want!

Can I reach out if I'm stuck?
Yes of course! We can pass anything onto our experts. Just email us hello@:.com

Is 12 months long enough?
Yes, there were many members who completed their Under The Sea quilts (or wall hangings) within the 12 months or shortly after.

What exactly do I learn?

Month 1 & 2: Victoria van der Laan
Improv piecing: Victoria was our very first artist to begin our project. She created the base of our quilt, the sea bed. She could have created anything she wanted so it was a fascinating beginning, seeing how an artist created from a totally blank page with just the theme, 'Under the Sea' as a starting point. Victoria took us through her piecing techniques, mostly focusing on curves, colour theory, bringing the piece together and more. She sent it onto Sarah for her to continue the piece...

Month 3 & 4: Sarah Hibbert
Collage to Quilt: SARAH is very well known for creating collages and beautifully pieced quilts. In her series of videos, she had the extra challenge of working on top of what Victoria had just created, considering Victoria's choice of colour and fabric, creating the next level of the sea bed. It was fascinating seeing how SARAH drew her seaweed, playing with the collaged pieces, then turning them into fabric and attaching onto Victorias base. She then sent it to Scott!

Month 5 & 6: Scott Culley
How to create an FPP pattern: Scott is an absolute master at what he does, creating wonderfully intricate FPP patterns from his own designs. In his video series, he absolutely blew the minds of our students as he created the most magnificent creature to ever grace the sea bed. You can watch from beginning to end, the entire process of how Scott creates his wonderful FPP. When Scott had finished, he sent it off to Russell.

Month 7 & 8: Russell Barratt
Piecing using Sustainable Fabrics: It was such fun watching Russell. Russell is well known for using sustainable fabrics so he delved into his scrap box and talked about how to use your scraps, think about color and texture, and how to wend them into a design. Once again, Russell had to decide how to add his piece to Scott's to create a seamless design, continuing building up our under the sea adventure.

Month 9 & 10: Jennie Pickett
Traditional Quilting: We are all about inclusivity here at CraftyMonkies, so we wanted to combine traditional and modern improv quilting in one piece. Jennie Pickett was our first choice and she decided to create some stars above the sea level. But she had a little play around with them! Just what did she create? You'll be able to see if you watch the video content, you'll also learn how to size up and down your traditional quilt blocks. The quilt then made its final journey across the globe to Trudi.

Month 11 & 12: Trudi Wood
Embellishments and The Quilting to bring it together: Trudi Wood is a master when it comes to bringing DESIGNS to life. We knew that using five artists to create one piece was going to need some beautiful quilting to tie the piece together and make it work as one piece of art. Trudi went above and beyond, adding embellishments to the entire quilt, teaching our students some FMQ techniques, and she added her own piecing as well. It didn't end there! She added a binding and a backing to the quilt, bringing our year-long adventure to an end. Just how did it turn out? Join the club and you will see!
So many techniques!
