Just the word 'ZIP' can make people flinch! Many sewists have a fear (if not a downright dread!) of the zip – including me when I first started out on my sewing journey. Well, I am here to help you with that! In this techniques-based class I will take away that fear and show you a range of ways to use zips – and very soon you will be wondering what you were ever afraid of!
What You Will Learn in this Online Interactive Workshop:-
During this class Sarah will go through:-
The Feet - Zipper Foot, Adjustable Zipper Foot, Invisible Zipper Foot. What are they and when do you need to use them?
Different types of zips and how to make the most of them
Using invisible zips in cushions and clothing
Using visible/lace zips as a feature on bags or garments
Zips in a bag
Tabbed zips
Inserting a curved zipper (double or single ended)
Pockets with zips
Adjusting the size of your zips
This is very much a techniques based class so bring a pen and paper, but you will also get the opportunity to make a simple cosmetic bag with a zip fastening.
Skill Level for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
This is for beginners and improvers. Get to grips with zips and add a valuable new skill to your stitching tool kit!
Material/Fabric requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
In the class we're going to make a simple zip bag! For this you will need:-
Two 10 inch squares and a 10 inch by 2 inch strip of fabric for the outside of your bag.
Two 10 inch squares of a lining fabric
A zip measuring between 6 and 10 inches.
Equipment requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
Sewing-Machine with Zipper Foot.
