Introduction by Zack:-

In this three-hour workshop I’ll be teaching you how to make your very own 2D Textured Paper Bird! My name is Zack and I run my own nature-inspired art company called Paper & Wood. over many years of playing with materials I have created many sculptures out of wire, paper and wood from what inspires me most, the beauty of the natural world. One of the main techniques I taught myself was to cut feathers out of paper. After a long time of playing with paper and scissors I created my own technique for texturing paper into individual detailed paper feathers, that once layered up, create a very convincing feathery look, one I use every day for the paper birds and animals I create in my studio.

What You Will Learn in this Online Interactive Workshop:-

In this session you will learn my simple, yet addictive techniques for cutting feathers out of paper, from downy fluffy feathers, to more structured flight feathers. Then on a bird of your choice from the templates provided, you will layer your beautiful paper feathers up to create a fully textured, beautiful 2D bird that look ready to fly off the page!

Skill Level for this Online Interactive Workshop:-

No prior experience with any materials needed, very easy to follow and Beginners will be confident in no time. All you need is paper, scissors, a craft knife and glue. If you can use scissors, you can make paper feathers!

Material requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-

The beauty and simplicity of this make is that you really don’t need many materials or equipment, a lovely cheap way to learn a new craft!

• Craft/Paper Glue - Zach uses UHU, but anything you are comfortable with will work
• Various coloured sheets of paper – Zach uses 160gsm Tiziano pastel paper, but something similar will be fine. Just try to colour-match the paper to the species of bird on the template you have chosen!...

Equipment requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-

All you need for this make is as follows:-

• Scissors - a comfy SHARP pair with short to medium blade length so they are easy to control.
• Craft Knife
• Cutting Mat
• Printable templates which will be sent out – please print these onto a GOOD paper stock as this will be the base for your paper feathers to stick to!

Pattern Information relevant to this Online Interactive Workshop:-

Three downloadable template sheets, each with a different bird species on, will be sent out to each participant who signs up for the workshop. Choose your favourite and print out before the workshop onto quality A4 paper at 100% scale.

​Tickets for this Online Interactive Workshop (via the Zoom platform) will be limited & allocated on a first-come/first-served basis! If applicable, any free pattern, or other information, relevant to this course will be forwarded to you after booking and approximately 5 days before the course date. The ticket price of £35.00 is based on ONE person attending this crafting class.
