Online Interactive Workshop: Scandi Festive Stocking

Following on from her Robin Embroidery Hoop workshop in November, the lovely Judith Hollies returns with another Christmas-flavoured and fun project: her Scandi Festive Stocking!

Introduction by Judith:-

I've been teaching patchwork & quilting for some thirteen years. Many of my patterns and designs have been featured in quilting publications, including this Scandi Festive Stocking, always a popular project in my Christmas classes and I'm sure you'll absolutely love it too!

What You Will Learn in this Online Interactive Workshop:-

In this workshop you will learn a technique called Appli-Quilting using a blanket stitch (or equivalent) on your machine, how to fully line the stocking, create a cuff and stocking construction, including hanging loop.

Skill Level for this Online Interactive Workshop:-

Provided you are a competent sewing-machine user (e.g. know how to change feet, needles, machine settings, etc), this workshop is suitable for absolutely anyone! Prior knowledge of patchwork or quilting is not essential.

Material/Fabric requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-

· Stocking front: 1 fat quarter * (or ½ metre if using same fabric front and back)

· Stocking back: 1 fat quarter* 

· Lining: 1/2 metre *

· Cuff, Heel & Toe: 1 fat quarter*

· Fussy cut motif/feature fabric for applique heart (at least 5” square)

· ½ m of compressed (low loft) wadding* (at least 45”/114cm wide)

· 1/2 m decorative trim (on cuff, optional)

· 8” ribbon (for hanging loop)

· 5” square piece of bondaweb*

· 505 Basting Spray*

· 5” square piece of clear template plastic*

· Non-permanent fabric marker*

· Zigzag and Quarter Inch feet

· Needles*: size 80/12 standard & size 90/14 standard

Additional Information relevant to this Online Interactive Workshop:-

Please have Stocking Template downloaded, taped together and cut out before the workshop (seam allowances are included).

For spray-basting, have an old sheet/shower curtain or large piece of old wallpaper available to protect surfaces.
