Ever-popular & hugely talented sewist Lucy Brennan enters the CraftyMonkies fray once again and as you'll see from the pictures above, she has a great project for you in this latest workshop: Modern Cross-Stitch Pin Cushions!

Introduction by Lucy:-

Brighten up your sewing space with these 2 x Modern Cross Stitch Pin Cushions! Inspired by pop culture, Fix Up Look Sharp has space for you to stick those pesky bent or dull pins, keeping them separate from the good sharp ones. Pin Drop has a colourful, geometric vibe complete with back stitch detail.  Both these patterns are newly designed by me and are being debuted via CraftyMonkies! In this class I will show you THREE different methods of cross stitching so you can stitch in the most comfortable way, including the quick and easy sewing method and one that may be new even to seasoned cross stitchers! You will be shown various ways to finish your pin cushion with decorative elements, such as beading for a tactile unique look!

All workshop participants will receive BOTH cross-stitch patterns as PDF files!

• Preparing the fabric and thread for stitching
• Different cross stitch techniques, including the sewing method
• How to secure at the start and end
• Achieving neat back stitching
• Piecing cross stitch fabric
• Adapting the designs to make different versions
• Create unique embellishments
• How to finish the pin cushion

Material requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-

• Decorative elements such as ric rac, pom poms, ribbon and beads
• Wadding or fusible fleece *
• Woven interfacing *

* Please note: the sizes needed will depend on the cross stitch fabric you are using, but a Fat-Quarter of each should be enough for two pin cushions

Equipment requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-

• Embroidery floss
• Cross stitch needle
• General sewing kit
• Embroidery hoop or frame (optional)

Here is a list of the cross stitch fabrics and threads I used for the samples. You can use any aida / linen / evenweave fabric and you do not have to purchase these specific items, use what you have!
