Online Interactive Workshop: Seasonal & Happy Theme Embroidery Hoops

We're delighted to welcome back Lucy Brennan once again; on this date, Lucy will be running a REPEAT of a workshop first aired on the CraftyMonkies Zoom platform a little over a year ago (Saturday 3rd October 2020), namely her Seasonal & Happy Theme Embroidery Hoops!...

Introduction by Lucy:-

Enjoy this relaxing class, learn a variety of embroidery stitches and create a beautiful sampler! Perfect for a sweet decorative touch to your home or to give as a gift! You will be provided with two of my original designs - Seasonal Leaves and Happy. This class is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some embroidery experience. Inspired by a song, the Seasonal Leaves sampler design is a nice reminder of the changing of seasons - make it your own using different colours or opt for a natural palette, the choice is yours!

What You Will Learn in this Online Interactive Workshop:-

• A variety of different embroidery stitches
• How to use stitches for outlining and filling designs
• Different ways to stitch text neatly and legibly
• How to finish the hoop ready for hanging

Skill Level for this Online Interactive Workshop:-

Suitable for all levels.

Material requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-

• Woven Fusible Stabiliser (optional, same size as cotton fabric)
• Embroidery Hoop size for Seasonal Leaves - Size 7” hoop
• Embroidery Hoop size - Size 6” hoop for a large Happy
• Embroidery Hoop size - Size 4” hoop for a small Happy

Fabric requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-

Cotton Fabric - at least a 12” square. A plain, pale fabric will work best as it is easier to trace the design.

Equipment requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-

• Water soluble pen or pencil
• Embroidery thread or perle cotton (or a combination) - you will need a selection of colours
• Embroidery Needle
• Scissors
• Thimble (optional)

Pattern Information relevant to this Online Interactive Workshop:-

The embroidery designs will be emailed out to everyone before the class.

Please Note: You could scale the patterns up or down when printing to a size that fits the hoops you have.

Additional Information relevant to this Online Interactive Workshop:-

If you have time, please trace the Seasonal Leaves design onto fabric in preparation for the class. Leave plenty of space around the design to fit into the hoop. You can use a lightbox or window to help see the design, use a fine pencil or water soluble pen. Do not worry about tracing all the lines, as long as you have the basic outline shapes of the leaves and the text.

IMPORTANT! If you are fusing woven interfacing to the fabric use a pencil rather than a water soluble pen to trace the design! Once traced you can fuse the interfacing to the back of the fabric.
