Online Interactive Tutorial: Seminole Patchwork Wall-Hanging
There are many quilt traditions around the world and this is a fabulous one to learn! The Native American Seminole tribe from Florida developed a wonderful patchwork style of piecing in strips, now known as Seminole Patchwork. Join Sarah Payne as she demonstrates how this easy technique can allow you to create unique borders for your work – or a standalone wall hanging. This class is suitable for all levels.
You will have a go at one or two of the patterns, but Sarah will demonstrate all the layouts shown in the wall hanging. You will be supplied with full-colour written instructions after the class to continue making all the border designs, plus create a few new ones! Once you learn this technique you will be eager to try your own versions!
Requirements to make all the border rows:-
4 fat 1/4s and ½ m of contrast colour (in this case white)
Preparation ahead of this online interactive workshop:-
Please give your fabrics a good press before the class.
For the first demo we will be making the first row in the images supplied so you will need to cut the equivalent of Sarah's blue, pink and white, so please substitute your own fabrics and cut:-
- One 2 ½ inch wide strip of pink
- Two 2 ½ inch wide strips of blue
- Three 3-inch-wide strips of white
Tickets for this Online Interactive Workshop (via the Zoom platform) will be limited & allocated on a first-come/first-served basis!
