Online Interactive Workshop: FPP - Little Happy Boat!
Another of our wonderfully talented & engaging tutors, Ingrid Alteneder, joins us once again in late June to deliver another of her inspirational Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) projects, namely her Little Happy Boat workshop!
Introduction by Ingrid:-
Hey, there! My name is Ingrid and I’m your FPP instructor in this course. I’ve been working with fabrics all my life, first as a fashion buyer and then for my own fashion label. I’ve been quilting since high school and started 2019 my online business with FPP patterns. I absolutely love, love, LOVE Foundation Paper Piecing, one because it is fairly easy and two it gives you perfect accuracy.
Best of all, with FPP you get to make a stunning quilt block without having to sew an entire quilt!
What You Will Learn in this Online Interactive Workshop:-
We’ll be making this stunning quilt block Little Happy Boat. You will learn to paper piece and some basic tips and tricks to make your paper piecing life easier! You will also learn how to 'fussy-cut' (select particular parts of a print to showcase in a block) and add those fussy-cuts to our blocks. Check out the windows and sails in my blocks to see how this can bring your blocks to life!
Skill Level for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
Intermediate. You should preferably have done some paper piecing before, but could also be new to paper piecing.
Material requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
Printed pattern (supplied to all who book), regular paper is absolutely fine.
Templates in the size you want to be making - the easiest is the 10” x 10” (inches)
IMPORTANT: Please cut out the templates beforehand along the dotted line, to save time in the class.
Fabric requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
Fabric needed for this quilt block (depending on the size you will be making)
The bigger the size the easier it will be, so for the 10”x 10” block you’ll need:
- Approx 1 x Fat-Quarter (FQ) for the background
- Fabric scraps for the sails
- Fabric scrapy for the boat
- Fabric scraps for the wood and ships mast
Equipment requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-
- Fabric glue pen - not essential, but it does makes your life easier (the Sewline brand is good; available via Amazon)
- Cutting Mat
- Rotary Cutter
- Acrylic Ruler
- Fabric Scissors + Paper Scissors (for cutting-out the templates)
- Sewing-Machine Thread
- A light-box for fussy-cutting - please note, this is optional: a bright window will also suffice!
