Introduction by Carolina:-

Hello again CraftyMonkies! I'm delighted to be teaching my second class with you in Autumn 2024 and in this class we'll get to grips with Curves & Transparencies, which will really help embolden your confidence when it comes to creating some really original and thought-provoking designs - I really hope you're able to join me for this workshop!...

What You Will Learn in this Online Interactive Workshop:-

In this workshop the attendees will learn about colour theory and how to use colour to create a transparency effect using colour, shapes and fabrics. Then the attendees will make a mini quilt top, where they will design it from scratch to use the transparency effect. They will learn how to cut fabrics with complex shapes and how to sew these curved shapes by machine.

Skill Level for this Online Interactive Workshop:-

This class is aimed at those of an Intermediate skill level.

 

Material requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-​

• 2 blank paper measuring 15” x 20” (approximately) with a paper weight not less than 110 grams (14 oz) OR a 2 sheet of Freezer paper of the same size. (Using freezer paper makes work easier

• Thread for sewing

• 5 x Fat Quarters (solids) in 5 x different colours that form either an Analogous Palette OR 5 x fabrics that are in the same colour going from a Lighter shade to a Darker shade (see below)

• 2 x Fat Quarters of background fabric of your choice (Neutral will be better, such as White, Off-White, Grey, Black, Beige, etc.)

 

Equipment requirements relevant to this Online Interactive Workshop:-

• Sewing Machine

• Quarter-inch Foot

• Masking tape

• Paper scissors

• Pencil

• Pins

• Fabric Marker (erasable)

• Rotary cutter

• Quilting ruler

• Iron and Ironing Table/Board

• Notebook and pencil for taking notes
